where content, (AI) technology and business come together
BK Media is a company owned by Bert Kok. With a broad background in journalism, startups, and innovation, I focus on the future of media and journalism. I started my career at the Dutch news agency ANP, where I gained extensive experience in news production and distribution. Later, as the founder of several startups, including imgZine (now the Relevance platform of ORTEC), a platform delivering personalized content, I honed my entrepreneurial spirit and developed innovative solutions for digital communication.
Currently, I work as a lecturer and coordinator of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation course at the School of Journalism in Utrecht (part of the Institute for Media at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences) and am involved in the AI Proeflokaal project, where I develop AI tools such as chatbots for both students and teachers. Additionally, I work intensively on integrating AI technology into journalism and education to elevate these sectors to a higher level. I also provide training in prompting and practical application of AI in journalism, both within and outside Utrecht University of Applied Sciences.
I also work as a project leader at Media Campus NL, where I focus on innovation within the media industry. In this role, I also act as an Innovation Broker, providing SMEs with advice on business development for new concepts and supporting them in setting up projects around VR and immersive technology. I also produce articles en other content about developments in the media industry for the website of Media Campus NL.
My expertise lies in bringing together technology, innovation, journalism and business. Through my work, I support students, teachers, media professionals and companies in exploring and applying the latest technologies to future-proof journalism. I hold an Executive MBA in Crossmedia.
